1st Place & Best Customised Winner – Daniele Giudici
ย Pennzoil Hakosuka
Daniele talks about his build:
“I always wanted to make a Hakosuka kit since I saw Kitbuilderchris’ model in Telford last year and I was inspired to do a revise of an iconic JGTC livery by Balazs Calsonic take. The main challenges were to adapt the original livery to the Hakosuka size, thanks to my friend Wanted_124 I was able to get a scan of the original decals that I could resize to fit. The main black livery scheme was masked and airbrushed; I decided to remove any markings and use black for the wheel arches and spoilers to give a more street race vibe to it.
To complete the Kaido Racer style I bent the license plates using the metal casing from a tea candle and added a custom small size steering wheel 3d printed. The whole model was then sealed with Satin 2K clear Satin to match the shine of a normal street car. This kit was a blast to build with great detail and easiness of assembly!”

2nd Place & Best Painted Winner โ Dave Macrae
Bridgestone HCR32 Skyline
Dave talks about his build:
“For the build off I chose the Aoshima HCR32 Skyline 4Dr. I love the look of the 4 door skylines and because the kit came with an engine.
I decided to with a Kaido Racer inspired paint job along with some 3d printed SSR F4 wheels and lowered the ride height to give it even more Kaido Racer vibes. I also used a few other 3d printed parts on the interior including seats and a samurai sword gear shifter.
I unfortunately snapped the bonnet but luckily the kit came with a spare so I had to repaint and decal it. Everything was clearcoated with Mr Hobby super clear.
A really fun kit to build and something a bit different than your standard GT-R skylines.”

3rd Place – Josh Appleby
Blue Toyota GR86
Best Photography Sub-Category Winner – Christian Ward
Purple Mazda FD3S RX7
Chris talks about his build:
“This particular Initial D kit doesn’t really need much changing with it, straight out of the box. With additions such as the big rear spoiler, the roll cage, and the aggressive bodystyling, it already has some great optional extra parts, the only things I swapped out were the brakes for some bigger 3d printed ones, and some Aoshima 19” TE37’S. Everything else you see is box stock.
The colour chosen for this build was Lamborghini ‘Viola Pasifae’ under a 2k clear coat with a 4 stage wetsand and 3 stage machine polish.
The bonnet vents were moulded in, so I drilled and cut them away and added a little mesh underneath. Would be a great kit for a big project to install an engine bay and crazy details and leave the vents open…
As for the interior, I wanted the crazy/stand out to carry on, starting with a fluorescent pink roll cage (Mr color over Mr surfacer white, turned out to be incredibly fluro!) And the camo pattern was hand painted with a paint brush, to no particular pattern or style, just having a little fun, using citadel Paints for that flat dry appearance and quick drying.
A really enjoyable build !! ๐๐ป
