Kawasaki Zephyr is a family of Japanese naked-bike motorcycles, the first representative of which was presented in 1989. Mass production continued in the 90s of the twentieth century. Models from the Zephyr family were offered with 400, 550, 750 and 1100cc engines. Each of the power units was 4-cylinder, 16-valve and air-cooled, almost always mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It also had an electric start. Stylistically, the Zephyr models referred to the old Kawasaki Z1 motorcycle from the 1970s. The 400 model, produced in Japan since 1989, was by far the most popular of the entire series. The entire series turned out to be a huge sales hit and gained immense popularity in Anglo-Saxon markets – especially in Great Britain. Market results also led Kawasaki to become one of the most profitable motorcycle companies in the 1990s.
