Wet Nellie is the name of a mini-submarine used by Her Majesty’s agent James Bond in the 1977 film “The Spy Who Loved Me”. The car was built by the Perry Oceanographic Incorporation in 1976 and cost around $100,000 to make.
Based off the Lotus Esprit S1, once underwater the car is powered by four electric motors, and steerable by specially extendable horizontal rudders. In the film, the viewer is informed that the Wet Nellie was developed by Q, and the vehicle’s plans were stolen by a KGB agent.
