Honda Civic is a Japanese passenger car from the so-called city car class and lower middle class (compact car), which was first presented to the general public in 1972. Its serial production started in the same year and is still ongoing, so it has been going on for over 45 years! During its production, the model was manufactured in several cities around the world, including: Suzuka in Japan, East London in South Africa and Swindon in Great Britain. The car has had ten generations to date.
The Civic model was developed and put into production to replace the N360 and N600 models in the Honda Motor Company offer. The first generation was clearly different from its predecessors in terms of style, it was much larger, and it also used different gearboxes and engines with significantly greater power and displacement. The car was a great success – both in Japan and on export markets, which determined its further production and development of the model. With the appearance of the VI generation, the production of which started in 1995, Honda decided to reposition the Civic model – from the city car segment to the lower middle class, which entailed, among other things: a change in style, the use of a wider range of engines and offering a slightly richer basic equipment. It is worth adding that the VI generation Civic models produced for the Japanese, American and English markets were very different from each other. At the moment, the latest, X generation of the Civic model was presented in 2015.
