Mitsubishi Galant is a Japanese lower-middle and later mid-range car that was first presented to the public in 1969. Its serial production started in the same year and lasted until 2012, so the model was produced for over 40 years! Over 5 million cars of this model were created in the course of production. Production was concentrated mainly in the cities of Okazaki in Japan and Normal in the United States.

Mitsubishi Galant was developed and put into production in order to expand the company’s offer and – initially – to increase its share in the segment of lower-middle class cars. The first generation of the Galant model was called the Colt Galant and was largely based on the Colt 1500 model, both in terms of design and technical solutions. However, the success of this version and the changing automotive market made the Galant model remain in 1983 repositioned and transferred to the middle class car segment.

This entailed changes in design, but also an increase in travel comfort, the introduction of a wider range of engines and offering a richer basic equipment. In the course of production, the car could be powered by one of several 4- or 6-cylinder engines with a capacity of 1.6 to 3.8 litres, which could work with a manual, semi-automatic or automatic gearbox. As many as 9 generations of the Galant model were created in the course of production, the last of which was presented in 2004.
