Mitsubishi Lancer is a Japanese passenger car, initially of the lower-middle class, and now – of the middle class, produced by Mitsubishi Motors. The car was presented to the public for the first time in 1972 at the Tokyo Motor Show. Its production started a year later and is still going on for the Taiwanese and Chinese markets. During this period, it was carried out in several cities around the world, including Kurashiki in Japan, Normal in the USA and Taoyuan in Taiwan. The Lancer model was developed and put into production in order to expand the commercial offer of Mitsubishi Motors, as well as to fill the gap in this offer, which was created between the Minica model (a kai-car intended for the Japanese market) and the Galant models, i.e. the car middle and upper-middle class. The car was quite successful and from the very beginning it became famous for its high reliability. The reputation of this model was enhanced by the 1600GSR version, which in the 70s of the twentieth century achieved numerous successes in car rallies. It is worth adding that also subsequent versions of Lancer continued this glorious tradition initiated by the 1600GSR version. All this made the management of Mitsubishi Motors decide to continue the production and improvement of this model. The last, VIII generation, Lancer model was presented in 2007 and was produced until 2016.
