The 300 SL was released in 1954, the production sports car version of a highly successful racing prototype from 1952. It featured an elegant body with gull wing doors, plus a lightweight multi-tubular space frame. A 3-litre inline-6 engine pioneered direct fuel injection. Its combination of looks and pioneering power makes it a favorite even in the modern day, and you can see what makes it tick with this special “full-view” version of the model.
