The Mazda MX-5 (another name: Mazda Miata) is a Japanese roadster sports car that was unveiled to the public in 1989. Its serial production started in the same year and is still going on. It was concentrated in the city of Hiroshima, Japan.
The MX-5 model was developed and put into series production in order to expand the commercial offer of Mazda Motor Corporation, and above all to win the roadster segment, which was dominated in the late 1980s by the aging Alfa Romeo Spider . Finally, a very successful car was created with a compact structure, small size and low curb weight, offering good performance, high level of safety and high travel comfort at a relatively affordable price. The car’s qualities made it a cult title, and in 1999 and 2005 the model won the Car of the Year title. In the course of serial production, the Mazda MX-5 has so far had four of its generations, the latest of which was presented in 2014.
