Toyota Crown is a Japanese mid-range and upper-middle class passenger car, produced by Toyota Motor Corporation, which was first presented to the public in 1955. Its production started in the same year and is still going on, which means that the model has been in production for over 60 years!

The Crown model was initially developed and put into production in order to expand the commercial offer of the Toyota concern and its entry into the middle class car segment. The first production series used many solutions used by Toyota in AA and Super models, such as the way of opening the passenger compartment door. Stylistically, the car referred to such cars as Ford Versailles or Simca Vedette. The car provided good travel comfort, it also had a very good suspension and nice engines with a capacity of 1.5-1.8 litres. It gained a certain popularity on the domestic market, which determined its further production. The design evolved over time and in the 1970s and 1980s, the Crown model entered the segment of upper-middle class cars. In the course of a very long production, it was offered in many body styles, such as a 4-door sedan, a 4-door combi or a 2-door coupe. The latest, already the 15th generation of the car was presented at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2017. The comparison of the first Toyota Crown with its current successor gives an excellent picture of the technological leap made by the automotive industry over the last 60 years …
