Toyota JPN Taxi is a Japanese passenger car, dedicated to work as a taxi (eng. taxicab), which debuted on the market in 2017, and its serial production started the same year and is still ongoing. The car is 440 cm long, 169.5 cm wide, with a wheelbase of about 275 centimetres. All production was concentrated in plants in the city of Shizuoka in the prefecture of the same name on the island of Honshu in Japan.
According to the manufacturer’s official website, the presented vehicle was developed by a special “Rikshaw Team”, which, guided by one of the internal principles of Toyota Motor Corporation called genchi genbutsu, conducted a very thorough study of market needs, preferences and expectations regarding a new car dedicated to passenger transport services. Based on this data, a concept car was developed in 2013, and a few years later it went into production as the Toyota JPN Taxi. Without a doubt, this car provides high travel comfort and uses solutions that significantly facilitate the use of it by the elderly and disabled. Above all, it has a large passenger cabin, sliding doors leading to it, and the floor of the car is just over 30 cm from the ground. Toyota JPN Taxi is also environmentally friendly, because it uses a hybrid drive that is a combination of an electric engine and an internal combustion engine. The car transported fans and tourists during the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games in 2021. Â
